Less than a month after Nothing caused the Phone (1) to the US comes the news that the commerce is set to launch the Phone (2) in the US later this year. The descent was originally reported by Inverse but was confirmed by a Nothing spokesperson to via email.
In the interview with Inverse, Nothing CEO and co-founder Carl Pei didn't divulge many details near the phone.
"We're developing a smartphone that's more premium than the Nothing Phone (1) and software will be a big cluster area for us," Pei said, according to Inverse. Pei said he describes Phone (2) as "premium" as opposed to a flagship because he views the Phone (1) as a flagship and Phone (2) as a step up.
Pei also told Inverse that Nothing's revenue and sales growth decided the company to push its products more in the US. Phone (1) was released in the US as part of the Android 13 testing program.
"When you make a smartphone for the U.S. you need to work with the carriers on certification and adapting some of their features into your OS," Pei said, according to Inverse. "We didn't have the resources for that before and now we do."
Nothing Phone (1) was released outside the US in July 2022, billed as a obliging smartphone that won't break the bank. While the shouted offers good performance and speed, the design is what sets Phone (1) apart, according to CNET's Andrew Lanxon.
